Pricing

Simple, transparent fees.

No monthly fees and no surprises — you only pay when you’re tipped. A small cut covers the platform and payment processing, and the rest goes straight to your bank. Here’s exactly how a R10 tip breaks down:

Tip receivedR10.00
Platform fee (5%)−R0.50
Payment processing (~1.5%, min R1)−R1.00
You keepR8.50

Example figures only. When your customer chooses to cover the fees at checkout, you keep the full R10.

TipEasy takes a small cut and the rest is yours. The only other deduction is a flat R3 bank fee per payout — the bank’s charge, not ours.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is TipEasy?

TipEasy is cashless tipping for South Africa. Each worker gets their own QR code and link — a customer scans it, picks an amount, and the tip goes straight to the worker’s bank account. No cash, no apps, no fuss.

How does cashless tipping work in South Africa?

Each worker has a personal QR code. A customer scans it with their phone camera, chooses a tip amount, and pays securely through our payment provider — by card, pay-by-bank (PayShap / EFT), Apple Pay or Google Pay. There’s no app to download and no cash needed — the tip reaches the worker automatically.

How much should you tip in South Africa?

A common guideline is 10–15% at restaurants, around R5 for a car guard or petrol attendant, and about 10% for services like hairdressing — but a tip is always a thank-you, so give what feels right. With TipEasy you can tip any amount cashlessly by scanning the worker’s QR code.

Can I tip a car guard or petrol attendant without cash?

Yes — that’s exactly what TipEasy is for. If the worker has a TipEasy QR code, scan it and tip straight from your phone. No cash, no card machine, and no app to install.

Do customers need to download an app or sign up?

No. Tipping happens right in the phone’s browser — scan the code or open the link, choose an amount and pay. There’s nothing to install and no account to create.

How do customers pay?

However suits them best — bank card, pay-by-bank (PayShap / instant EFT), Apple Pay or Google Pay — all handled securely by our payment provider. It happens right in their phone’s browser: no app to download and no account to create.

How do workers get paid?

Add your bank account once and we send your tips straight to it by EFT. Your tips are batched into a single payout at the end of each day, so you’re not waiting for payday. Each payout carries a flat R3 bank fee — that’s charged by the bank, not TipEasy, and batching keeps it to one small fee a day.

Does TipEasy hold my tips?

No. Tips are collected by our regulated payment provider and paid out to you — TipEasy never takes custody of your money. A small, clearly shown fee covers the platform and payment processing; the rest is yours.

What does it cost?

There are no monthly fees — you only pay when you’re tipped. A small platform fee plus payment processing is deducted per tip, and the exact breakdown is shown before anyone pays.

Is it secure and private?

Yes. Payments run through a regulated provider, sensitive details are encrypted, and we handle personal information in line with South Africa’s POPIA. We only ask for an ID before enabling payouts, to verify identity and help prevent fraud.

Who is TipEasy for?

Anyone who earns a tip — waiters, baristas, car guards, petrol attendants, valets, hairdressers and more.
